Overview
Impactful instructional leadership begins with a strong partnership between school leaders and the central office. The Principal Support Series brings principals and central office leaders together around a shared vision for student learning and experience. Together, central office leaders and principals assess the current state of instructional leadership, create a vision for the ideal state, and build an action plan to get closer to it.
What You’ll Accomplish
Participants will build the conditions for more impactful, student-centered leadership across roles by:
- Identifying role-specific leverage points that most influence student learning, belonging, and agency
- Engaging in joint problem-solving focused on real, student-centered problems of practice
- Aligning system-level decisions in support of principals increasing their impact on student learning
- Establishing shared norms and expectations for inclusive leadership practices
- Modeling and practicing inclusive facilitation, feedback, and decision-making
Who It’s For
Central office leaders and their school leaders.
How It Works
The Principal Support Series blends research-based tools such as the Principal Support Framework with contextualized, just-in-time learning. Sessions are practical, collaborative, and immediately applicable to leaders’ daily work. Participants will:
- Study promising practices
- Examine and create plans to disrupt system-level norms that unintentionally undermine student success
- Create and refine tools together before scaling
- Engage in structured opportunities for cross-role learning, reflection, and feedback
What Will Be Different
As a result of this work, districts experience clearer alignment between system decisions and student needs. Principals report increased trust, engagement, and collaboration between schools and the central office, as well as across school teams. Central office leaders deepen their understanding of how their actions shape school-level conditions.
Over time, participants build:
- Shared accountability for student success
- Inclusive, forward-thinking adult learning cultures across roles
- More coherent systems that consistently center students
