Despite having once vowed early in her career to never to become an administrator, Ayesha Farag has now spent 18 years in educational leadership as an assistant principal, principal, and district leader. Currently the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education in the Newton Public Schools (MA), Ayesha began her career in education as a middle school teacher before becoming a school counselor and then an administrator.
Ayesha’s work is driven by a vision of schools as places of joy, belonging, challenge, and engagement for all students. A constant learner, Ayesha is energized by research, planning, experimentation, and collaboration to develop schools where all learners are equipped and empowered to become happy, healthy, and productive citizens with abundant opportunities for personal and professional fulfillment.
Ayesha holds degrees from Bates College, Harvard Graduate School of Education, University of Southern Maine, and Lesley University. A graduate of the AASA/CEL National Principal Supervisor Academy and Learning Forward Academy, she is now a coach for the latter and serves as an Ambassador to the Learning Forward Foundation. She has shared insights and expertise through contributions to Principal Magazine and The Learning Professional.
