Jennifer McDermott is a director at the Center for Educational Leadership. She leads work that supports leaders to create effective cultures of teacher learning and design strategic professional development. Jennifer believes that leaders are influential in creating the conditions for teachers to learn together on behalf of student learning. Jennifer began her career as an English as a Foreign Language teacher in the Peace Corps and then taught English in Chicago and New York. She also worked as a district literacy coach and educational consultant and led professional development initiatives for the Center for School Improvement at the University of Chicago.
