Session 1: Advancing Your Equity Stance as a Central Office Leader
Wednesday, Feb 16, 2022
Central office leaders across the country are grappling with what it means to be an equity-centered leader. This session is dedicated to helping leaders deepen their understanding of how they can build an equity stance into their day-to-day practice and interactions.
Participants will have opportunities to engage with tools and a framework to both reflect and envision a more equitable path forward. Particular attention will be paid to how central office leaders can better support principals in their own equity leadership journey. This session will be led by a team from the University of Washington Center for Educational Leadership.
Karen Gallman, Director
Michele Mason, Senior Director
Lisa Rooney, Director of Framework Development and Support
Max Silverman, Executive Director
As part of this session, the presenters will unveil CEL’s newly revised Principal Support Framework. This tool is designed for central office leaders to eliminate inequitable experiences and outcomes in their schools. It now has four critical action areas that offer a student-centered vision for system leaders to partner with school leaders and grow equity leadership practices.
